Ryoji Sakate Hair Lounge

Hello Everyone! The holiday is sadly over now in Jakarta. Jakarta has a good and longest holiday every year during "Hari Raya" or we could say it's "Lebaran" event. Because this year I don't have any plans for travel/trip so I decided to have some explore around Jakarta haha I never really have times to exploring new places during normal weekdays nor weekend :(

So, yeah I got myself a reservation in Ryoji Sakate Hair Lounge yesterday. A little bit over-excited because this salon isn't really like those average salon thanks to the well arranged interior that pick most of my interest to try coming there. Almost all of hair salons in Jakarta always have that 'glamorous' feeling for the place with so many lightnings that sometimes my eyes hurt from that lol. But it's totally different here. Ryoji-san didn't put too much light in his place yet it's light enough for you to see your haircut clearly. (Pictures in the website is actually darker than the actual place)

There's also window, which is rare to find in most of hair salons. I was sitting in the far left in front of the window so am quite enjoy while waiting for my hair cut. It's not I always look at the sky though but somehow having a window with sky-view is avoiding suffocate feeling for me. Not to mention I always adore raw interior than glamorous one <3

Because it's new salon so there are not so many chairs and seems like the stylists are only Ryoji-san himself and Takashi-san so the place isn't really big but it's quite comfort and nothing like 'intimidating' feels lol. Maybe that's just me but if I come to beauty places, let's say it's hair salon, I sometimes got 'intimidating' feels because of their glamorous place haha.

First thing that took me amazed beside the interior is actually the chair where you got your hair washed. It maybe looks normal and all but when I sit there am surprised hahaha. The chair isn't too lean to the back like most of the hair salons have. Usually when your hair washed at salon, you are almost like in sleeping pose and it's actually not comfort if you waiting while you play with your phone, right? (so me haha).

Okay, let's talk about the stylist's skill. I'm not majoring in hair so let's talk from what I got and feel when my hair was cut by the director himself. First, if you really think that experience is important (it is actually haha) rest assured because both the stylists here have many years experience both in Japan and aboard. As for what I remember during our talk, Ryoji-san got like 13 years? (forgive my memory if am wrong lol).

Frankly speaking, my hair is my first problem after my weight lolol. I have a really hard to maintain hair because it's so thick and coarse-texture. I once had 'my usual salon' where I always go there every time I want to cut and treat my hair. That salon is so famous because of the stylist skill and his fast movement. He always said that it's better for me to not have a short hair because it'll be so frizzy, messy and will be like a lion lol. He always suggest me to have a smoothing and duh, what he said and the result is always right that was why I believed. Time passed and I thought I want to try something different (I want to stop that smoothing things also) so I tried a Korean salon. Well, exactly same said. It's better without short hair. Until around 1.5 years ago I tried that-so-famous Japanese salon in Kemang, he said it'll be nice for me to have short hair and yeah I went with it. It's true that many of my friends said I look better with short hair but huuuufff the maintenance was real hard duh. The stylist never mention about it so I thought he could gave me a simple-maintain style like what I requested but not. I need to blow-dry my hair everytime I wash and I need a curler/straightener to make it lasting. It's not like I never blow-dry my hair but I don't really have time to styling my hair because I usually wake early to cook then go for work. After work I need some time for exercise and run with my dog. Not to mention to review my JPclass. So yeah, it's hard to have neat hairstyle all the time in my case.

Before having a hair cut, Ryoji-san was coming to me and we had a short consultation about what style I want to have. I don't know since when but I stop looking for a style everytime I go to salon. I want the stylist to cut my hair like what he think it'll be suit my face the best (since I have super chubby cheek lol). So during consultation I just mention the length I desired and I said "please do whatever you think the best" haha. It's either hard or easy to have customer like me, huh? xD

so this is before and after ~
*forgive my nervous face since I couldn't really overcame my shyness.
I rarely take photo also~ still learning as a blogger haha*

I threw away quite length, right ? xD Ryoji-san jokingly said it'll be never ending to process my hair lol. since it's long and super thick +_+ Another point that I really like is during the hair cut we talked a lot. I don't know if that's one of the must-have service for Japanese or what because when I got my hair cut in Japanese salon in Kemang the stylist also talked a lot with me. I maybe play with my phone but not really all the time during haircut because it's kinda annoying to have my hand outside the haircut apron (I don't know what it is called) lol. so yeah, talking will prevent me from getting bored.

Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the result because my short hair didn't turn to be really messy and hard to maintain. I didn't wash my hair yet but I could tell already because the blow-dry effect is vanished. I do think that this hair lounge will gain more customers when time passes (and I, too, will definitely come back later) so they better prepare for that haha. There are still some little things missing though from my pov. They didn't serve you some water so better bring bottled water with you if you are like me, need to drink water every seconds lol. Also, even though the cutting is perfect, the blow-dry will not lasting really long but maybe because Ryoji-san didn't use straightener/curling iron yesterday.

Like what I said in the very beginning, I like the interior very much that's why 5/5 for me haha. You could check the price in their website and it's average for Japanese salon's price.

Do tell me your opinion whether about the salon or my new hair cut. Is it better with long or short? :)
Thank you for reading! X

    1. Hello,
I got my hair done with Ryoji-san and it's 700k IDR for cutting already with washing & blow-dry. It'll be slightly cheaper if you prefer with Takashi-san though. As for perm and coloring it depends of your hair length :) Hope you'll get satisfied experience there :)
